The origins of some of them, as the ones involved on the rearing of cocks to obtain their precious feathers for the manufacturing of artificial flies for fishing, are lost in time.

In this valley created by the Curueño river, we can find cock exploitations mainly in:
La Vecilla de Curueño, Aviados, Campohermoso, La Cándana de Curueño, La Mata de la Bérbula and Ranedo de Curueño.

All sorts of legends are related to the breeding of the cocks on this particular valley, some of them try to give a scientific answer to the fact that when the cocks are taken out of the valley they don't generate feathers of the same high quality. Although, there are some other locations in the Leon Mountains, where you can find some additional exploitation of these races in: Boñar, Cistierna y Boca de Huérgamo among others.
